Out of all the things for computers, hard drives are the ones that interest me the least and I really hate looking for them.

Im lookin at about 150 dollars or so for harddrive, and would like to do RAID0 so total price of each would be 80ish dollars ideally. Looking more at performance rather than storage size.

plx helps

You're not going to get "performance" hard drives for $80 each. A 10k RPM drive will have less than 40 GB (2 WoW installations) for $80. You'll just end up using 7200 RPM drives.

Well, if he really wants a "performance Hard Drive" and doesn't mind the possibility of a short lifecycle(compared to the more traditional ones) if it is the only drive in the computer... He could always get a Solid State Hard Drive, they're just small, and if he does a lot of R/W to them, it'll die after a while as it runs out of good sectors.

(That and $150 just barely gets you into the 64GB SSD territory)

Edit: Further checking with NewEgg shows cheapest 10K RPM SATA Hard Drive starts at $159. 15K RPM drives start at $849 for SATA.

Edit 2: Playing around a bit more on New Egg, I guess he could raid 1+0 four 160GB 7200RPM drives for $160. =P

Wouldn't touch RAID0 anyway. One drive pooches, and you've lost both drives. You're actually increasing your susceptibility to drive failure (which is why RAID0 shouldn't even be called RAID - there's nothing redundant about it. It's the opposite of redundant!)

Personally, I'm very enthusiastic about SSD technology. They've all but eliminated most of the pitfalls (marking sectors as available for write for better wear-levelling was the big one, but wear level management in and of itself has got a lot better) but it hasn't hit the mass production point where it becomes a viable alternative to magnetic storage yet. Industry is starting to adopt it to an extent - which is good, because when industry adopts a technology, it tends to enable larger scale production, which makes the technology more affordable until it trickles down to consumer-level affordability.
