I just knew people couldn't leave it alone ...

Looks like they do.

Isn't he only half Na'vi? Stands to reason he might have some but the others might not.

Exactly. Jake doesn't count. Avatars also have 4 toes and fingers vs. 3 for the Navi.

By the way, I don't think anyone compared it to Dances with Wolves as an insult, more as to say the story isn't all that groundbreaking when it's practically lifted from another movie. I thought it was a good story then, and I'm sure it's a good story now, but I know ahead of time I'll be paying my 13.50 for the 3d experience and nothing else. Secondly, I liked the Last Samurai when I saw it in theaters because I just thought it was really enjoyable. But I also realized it was pretty inaccurate and looking back it's completely ludicrous and I hate Tom Cruise, thank you.

James Cameron’s science-fiction epic “Avatar” had another stellar weekend with $68.3 million domestically, shooting past $1 billion worldwide, only the fifth movie ever to hit that mark.

I saw this over the weekend, and thought I'd save my "Overhyped Movie Bashing" till I had seen it.

Its not a bad film, but its not a good one either. The visuals are impressive, but they are supposed to be in this day and age. I had the fortune (or misfortune) of seeing it in 3D, and the only thing it did for me was cost me abother $3.50 for the 3D glasses. The story was dull and told many times before. The characters were wholly uninteresting, stereotypical and easily predictable. Would have been much better as a shorter movie, because you figure out how its going to end about the 15 minute mark...
